About
I’m a writer and literary curator.
I curate the ALOUD lecture, reading and performance series at the Central Library in downtown Los Angeles, where people from all over the city come together to agree and disagree and listen and sometimes even sing. I am also co-director of the Los Angeles Institute for the Humanities at USC.
I’m the author of The Crooked Mirror: A Memoir of Polish-Jewish Reconciliation and two previous books, THE SOUVENIR: A DAUGHTER DISCOVERS HER FATHER’S WAR and THE KNOWING BODY: THE ARTIST AS STORYTELLER IN CONTEMPORARY PERFORMANCE.
